The Monte Cucco Park (Parco del Monte Cucco) includes the territory of the Umbria Region located on the north-east border, delimited by the Apennine mountain ridge on which the Cucco peak (1,566 meters) stands out, by the historic route of the Via Flaminia, and by the Sentino and Chiascio rivers.

It is "the belly of the Apennines" with a complex hypogean system, karst phenomena, and underground waters whose resurgence points feed civil aqueducts and mineral springs, and flow into the Sentino river. Fossils and intact forests are abundant. It is the Park of underground waters and mineral springs, of pristine watercourses, of large intact beech forests, and of karst caves that cannot be violated by mass attendance.

Driving along the Via Flaminia, it is possible to admire and visit the historic centers of the municipalities belonging to the Park. Through the internal roads that branch off from Scheggia, one can access an extraordinary itinerary of abbeys. Other internal roads lead to the Val di Ranco area and to the tourist settlements built there in the 1960s or to the splendid area of **Pian delle Macinare**.

The entire Park in its mountain area is crossed by a dense and well-marked network of paths (about 120km.) and also by the Sentiero Italia. Some of these paths are suitable for equestrian tourism and can also be traveled by mountain bike. Visitors find in the park territory a natural oasis but also opportunities for sports such as trekking, speleology, free flight, canyoning, and cross-country skiing.
There are several significant paths (sentieri), including: N. 280 goes from Costacciaro to the Mount along the Vecchia Strada (Old Road), N. 235 from Valico di Fossato to Val di Ranco, N. 225 – 229 – 242 from Val di Ranco to Pian delle Macinare.
